Sworn French ↔ English interpreter

American-born, and French at heart

After leaving the States (initially with a Bachelor's degree), to travel, study and live abroad, including 4 years in the UK, Janet's path led her to Paris and then to a wonderful life-setting in Brittany, western France. She works regularly in cities like Brest, Rennes, Quimper, St Brieuc and Nantes, as well as further afield and across the Channel. She became a French national in 1998.

Today, her familiarity with both American and European cultures, life styles and mind-sets can contribute to optimizing your international relations and go beyond simply providing the language.

27 years of translating and interpreting experience...

One feature has remained constant: the penchant for a job well done. This exacting approach has paved the way to keeping loyal clients and to the vital opportunity of working with other highly skilled professionals in interpretation.

A court-certified translator/interpreter since 1993, she was relieved of sworn translation duties at her request in 2007 and now ensures only sworn oral interpreting missions in the courts and for individuals. In 2016, she joined UNETICA, the national association of Expert translators and interpreters appointed by the French appellate courts, defending the interests of the profession, the court system and users.

and still the drive to continue improving her skills!

Of course, the daily work of an interpreter provides a good share of intellectual stimulation and opportunities to learn. After earning a Master's degree in translation and technical writing and completing the Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course (CCIC) Janet has continued to acquire further qualifications through both formal courses and webinars, constantly aiming for excellence via the latest techniques and best practices.
